Develop your renewable energy future in biomass.
Biomass technology

Technologies: Biomass

Solas Energy has worked with biomass to power technologies. Our work has ensured that the life of biomass power generation facilities are extended and that these facilities are included in greenhouse gas regulations.

We have reviewed technologies including biomass fuels such as ethanol, biodiesel, biogas, syngas, and hydrogen for transportation and electricity generation, as a means to lower carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel use.

We create and implement solutions that respond to the unique challenges and goals for each project. We communicate with honesty and deliver on our promises, ensuring that our clients’ ambitious projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulations.

Our biomass services include:

  • Reviewing emerging technologies for biomass to power emerging technologies reviews and feasibility studies
  • Regulatory permitting and economics reviews associated with biomass to power production
  • Anaerobic digestion facility reviews to assess feasibility for potential investors as well as resource evaluation
  • Reviewing land fill gas opportunities for power production
  • Navigating regulatory aspects of greenhouse gas emission reductions and their applicability for crediting

What Is Biomass Energy Technology

Biomass energy technology is a type of energy technology that can be used in place of fossil fuels. Part of the reason that it is so desirable is that it is a renewable resource, unlike the fossil fuels that it has the potential to replace. To understand exactly what biomass energy technology is, you will also need to understand what biomass is. Biomass is basically organisms or organic materials that have recently been alive. Biomass can then be turned into renewable energy and used to produce heat, electricity, fuel for transportation, and more!

Biomass Energy can be converted into energy in a few different ways. These are by burning, bacterial decay, or conversion to a gas or liquid fuel. The processes outlined here are similar to those that are used for fossil fuels, though biomass energy is the more environmentally friendly option of the two. Some of the other benefits of biomass energy is that it is a flexible power source, like petroleum, and it can actually enhance the reliability of an electric grid– which is not the case with all other renewable energies. Plus, it can lower the intensity of electricity generation by offsetting the necessity of carbon fuels that are burned in power plants.
